This cooktop leaves much to be desired. Broke less than 6 months into using. The burners are too close to the knobs so they get way too hot and you can smell them on occasion- the plastic. When the ventilation fan is on- the flames pull too close and causes one side of the skillet to cook too hot and the other side has too little flame to cook evenly. The igniter went out on one eye and it will engage all igniters simultaneously- and the kicker: it won™™t stop trying to ignite. This causes frustration and panic. It™™s now May and we™™ve had nothing but frustrations from Riverstone (the company sent to install the new stove). First guy said we didn™™t have a gas valve shutoff & left. We had a company come look & had to pay them just to tell us we did. So that™™s a great way to get this started. Next guy they send- can not speak English and shows up 2.5 hrs bf the scheduled delivery time. He opens the box and cooktop is bashed- he leaves. GE then says they weren™™t told it was broken & the guy left the broken cooktop w its huge box here. He was supposed to haul it away. I now have two broken cooktops, can™™t barely cook dinner for months and I have to continue pursuing this to get fixed. Gave list two days of work, endless phone call time, no communication from GE or Riverstone- it™™s been horrible! No one calls back to check or update as I™™ve been told repeatedly. We will never purchase from GE again. Think very hard if you want this same experience.

This product continues the standard of a great kitchen appliance. Our previous GE profile gas cooktop lasted 20 years, and this replacement upholds the excellence GE provides. The controls, burners and ventilation are excellent. The new design of flat tempered glass with cast iron seasoned grille is elegant and very robustly functional.

This was an installation nightmare. The brackets from GI did not match. I had to hire a master plumber to insure the fit. He was here for 8 hours and it cost me more than expected to fix the mismatched brackets and insure there were no gas leaks.

It's hard to find a replacement for a gas downdraft cooktop, but this one is great! Burners are stronger than previous cooktop (not GE). Downdraft works much better, doesn't pull flames from burners. The burners are set higher above the surface than previous one. Easier to clean around igniters. Glass surface is nice, but hard to clean around the knobs.

I had the prior GE profile cooktop with downdraft. GE said it will align and fit as my old one. This is false. The installers GE sent were clueless as to how to assemble the fan unit and the new model will not align to your existing venting in your kitchen island. The previous model had a round exhaust opening the new model has a rectangular open and the openings are not located in the same orientation. I had to custom fabricate venting to get the air to the outside.

I installed it myself as a homeowner and would give it five stars except that the holes for the four screws for the two under stove top brackets were stripped so all four screws would spend but would not come out. They just kept spinning in place. I finally got them out by forcing a thin metal putty knife under the screw heads as I spun the screws with my drill. Also, I had to use acetone to remove the residue left by the warning label that said not to lift the stove top by the vent hole. I did have an installer hook up the gas line. It looks great and is a joy to use.

We love our new cooktop. It installed easily and ignites quickly. The grates are heavy and controls are easy to use. We had lots of trouble getting our new cooktop due to shipping complications, but all is good now.

We had the same brand type cooktop when we built the house 16 years ago. It cracked, so we went with the same exact one. It cooks great. Looks beautiful. Is very hard to keep clean and every little splatter shows. I also struggle with food dropping down into the downdraft. Overall, am happy with the product and would recommend.

Really like it! Brings water to a rolling boil quickly and keeps it there. The Rangel of low simmer and high heat burners allow for great control. Only issue, and it™™s a small issue, is that the knobs and burner covers are Brett™™s cheap and will likely need to be replaced at some point.

1. The grates on the burner are not shaped to allow round bottomed woks because there is a metal plate at the center. Therefore you have to stick to either flat bottomed pans - same limitation as an electric hotplate
2. If your milk boils over, it goes all over the flat glass and can get into the downdraft very quickly. I had to scramble to stop the boiling hot milk from flooding the downdraft. Not a safe situation.
3. Glass bottom is a different look and easier to wipe clean/shine.

Absolutely regret owning this insanely expensive and utterly horrible range. Makes me mad and sad every time I look at this badly designed piece. They even have their own logo partially hidden under the grill. It was delivered with some parts missing and what they mailed later does not fit. The whole thing looks like an amateur designing a range for first time. You can get lot better looking and functioning range for fraction of the price.

I love my GE PROFILE COOKTOP!!! It is STUNNING!! It gets super hot! Cooks evenly and the exhaust is powerful! I am grateful that GE PROFILE made a gas stove with an exhaust down the center!!

Works well. I am short, 5'4", and it is much higher than the replaced cooktop. This makes it more difficult for me. The glass base requires constant cleaning, even if just a spot of water lands on it. Installer had no prblems.

Its too early to do a review, its only a couple of weeks that we have started using it. It worked fine so far. Looks nice. And, easy to clean. The turn knob does 2 things - the first half of the rotation has the electric/fire spark going on at which the burning has to be started, and the second half of the rotation controls the gas for the burning fire. If some one rotates the knob quickly, they might end up going to far end that releases the gas without the fire. Some smartness could have been added to the knob to avoid this. The stove's downdraft exhaust is great. The stove is a little pricey.

Honest feedback to product designers and QA testers. Overall the look and design is flawed, expected lot more from GE. The grill design is inferior to heat transfer. Why would you place GE Profile logo half hidden under the grill? When you switch on exhaust, it blows the flame such that it is impossible to get any heat for cooking. Plastic knobs are flimsy and could break anytime™¦
